Jessica Chastain Brings “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” to Little Rock’s Filmland in the Park

Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain will headline Arkansas Cinema Society’s Filmland in the Park event on October 2, presenting her latest film, The Eyes of Tammy Faye. The biopic explores the dramatic life of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker, known for her unbreakable faith, kindness, and eccentric style. Directed by Michael Showalter, with a script by Abe Sylvia, the film stars Chastain alongside Andrew Garfield, Cherry Jones, and Vincent D’Onofrio, capturing Tammy Faye’s rise and fall through Chastain’s immersive portrayal.

Celebrating Icons of Film and Environmentalism

Chastain’s film is among several notable screenings at Filmland. The festival begins with Becoming Cousteau, directed by Liz Garbus, on September 30. This documentary from National Geographic Films offers a deep dive into the legacy of Jacques-Yves Cousteau, the pioneering filmmaker and environmentalist who dedicated his life to raising awareness about climate change. On October 3, Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi’s A Hero—winner of the Grand Prix award at Cannes 2021—will also be showcased. Filmland attendees will have the unique opportunity to attend Q&A sessions, including one with Chastain and Arkansas native director Jeff Nichols.
