Police in Independence are investigating a fatal crash that happened late Saturday on Missouri 291 Highway at Missouri Highway 78.Police were called at 10:33 p.m. to the wreck.Accident investigators said a black Acura was heading south on Missouri 291 crossing Highway 78 when it hit a Ford Taurus turning left. Police said the Acura continued south across the median into the northbound lanes, where it hit a GMC Acadia head-on. Authorities said the driver of the Acura was ejected and was hit by a Ford F-150 that was heading north. Police said the male driver of the Acura was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. A juvenile passenger in the Acura was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Taurus was not hurt. The driver of the Acadia went to a hospital with serious injuries while a juvenile passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure.The driver and passenger of the F-150 were not injured. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
