Kansas City police said officers were able to get two children to safety after a crash Tuesday night, where the driver was seen pointing a gun.Authorities said police were called about 10 p.m. to 27th Street and Cleveland Avenue for a car that hit a pole.Police said that officer saw the driver was pointing a gun round in the crashed vehicle and that she appeared to be impaired. Two children were seen in the back seat of the car. Officers retreated behind their cruisers for cover and called for more officers.One of the officers saw that the woman was no longer holding the gun and police used ballistic shields to get closer to the vehicle. The woman was taken into custody and the children were removed from the car.Authorities said that officers found what appeared to be PCP inside the vehicle, as well as drug paraphernalia from other types of narcotics. According to police, the children told officers their mother had used drugs earlier in the day. Police said they recovered a pistol and 64 rounds of ammunition.The woman is in custody on suspicion of child endangerment. The children were placed with the Division of Family Services.
