Knicks guard Miles McBride cleared the NBA’s health and safety protocols Tuesday and will rejoin the team in Minnesota.

McBride entered the league’s COVID list on Dec. 18 and missed the Knicks’ last four games. With the Knicks taking on the Timberwolves on Tuesday, it’s unlikely that the 21-year-old is activated for the night’s game to give him time to get in the gym and “ramp up.”

Unfortunately for the Knicks, Jericho Sims and Nerlens Noel did not clear health and safety protocols and will remain out. This limits the number of big men the Knicks have on the active roster to just Mitchell Robinson and Taj Gibson.

Prior to the designation, McBride was seeing increased minutes due to Kemba Walker’s benching. He posted eight points in 20 minutes against the Golden State Warriors on Dec. 14, and 15 points and nine assists in 35 minutes against the Houston Rockets on Dec. 16.

While Walker has returned to the rotation, Derrick Rose‘s ankle surgery will give McBride plenty of opportunities to see minutes for the Knicks.

After the Knicks take on Minnesota, they’ll travel to Detroit to take on the Pistons on Wednesday night.
