To help you out, here are the eight questions for Thursday’s NBA games, along with my breakdown and picks.
#1 MOST POINTS BY A PLAYER
Talk about a group of scorers and a 50/50 chance at who scores the most. I have a feeling Game 3 could the Kyrie Irving show in Milwaukee, but I have been riding with two guys in the postseason betting-wise and that’s been Kevin Durant and Donovan Mitchell, so I will continue that here.
Coming off a 45-point game, Mitchell would be the easy pick, but Durant scored 32 points in three quarters of Game 2. If Durant plays four quarters, I can see 35-plus points for him and a slight regression to around 30 points for Mitchell.
My Pick: Kevin Durant Most Points
#2 NETS POINTS VS. BUCKS
0-107, 108-115, 116-127, 128-132 or 133+
The Nets scored 10 more points in Game 2 without James Harden and that is a scary sign. Brooklyn is headed to Milwaukee and despite how this series has turned out so far, I will side with fewer than 125 points in Game 3 from the Nets.
I could see this being the one defensive game of the series, well, more defensive, I should say. I will take the Nets at 108-115 points but feel like I could regret this one.
My Pick: Nets 108-115 Points
#3 BUCKS ASSISTS VS. NETS
0-20, 21-22, 23-24, 25-27, 28-31 or 32+
The Bucks had 14 and 21 assists in the first two games, struggling to find the bottom of the net. I have to think that trend will continue and if the Bucks can score, it will be more than likely from Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton doing their own thing.
My Pick: Bucks 0-20 Assists
#4 CLIPPERS POINTS VS. JAZZ
0-100, 101-109, 110-117, 118-125 or 126+
Game 1 was close-knit and low-scoring as the Jazz won 112-109. LA is averaging 110.9 points per game in the postseason and Utah allows 114.0. I think the Clippers score a few more points and ultimately get the win to even up the series.
My Pick: Clippers 110-117 Points
#5 JAZZ REBOUNDS VS. CLIPPERS
0-41, 42-47, 48-51, 52-55 or 56+
The Clippers went small-ball in Game 1 and were out-rebounded 46-42 by Rudy Gobert and company. In Game 2, there could be a slight lineup change, but overall, expect Utah to win the rebounding battle.
Utah averages 45.7 points per game in the postseason and I will ride with the 48-51, as I expect a few more missed shots in Game 2.
My Pick: Jazz 48-51 Rebounds
#6 TOTAL 3-POINTERS: CLIPPERS VS. JAZZ
0-26, 27-28, 29-31, 32-33, 34-37 or 38+
The two teams combined for 31 made three-pointers on 92 total attempts in Game 1. This is a tough choice, but I expect a few more misses in Game 2 after both teams shot 34% or better from deep.
My Pick: 27-28 Total Three-Pointers
#7 NETS VS. BUCKS: WINNER AND MARGIN OF VICTORY
Nets or Bucks? 1-2, 3, 4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 or 11+
I predict a sweep and right now, I don’t know if I can bet against Brooklyn, no matter whom they play. I will back Brooklyn by 7-8 points this time as I think Milwaukee will have a chance late.
My Pick: Nets win by 7-8 Points
#8 CLIPPERS VS. JAZZ: WINNER AND MARGIN OF VICTORY
Clippers or Jazz? 1-2, 3, 4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 or 11+
What a thriller Game 1 was between these two squads. The Jazz are favored here, but Kawhi Leonard should be much more effective moving forward after only 23 points. Expect another close game, but I will ride with LA to make a few adjustments on Mitchell.
My Pick: Clippers win by 3 Points
