Video: Firefighters rescue freezing dog from icy pond

Sweet Simba found herself in quite the predicament Thursday morning. But thanks to the heroic efforts from Missouri firefighters, she’s now back on solid ground. “I let her go outside to the bathroom and noticed she didn’t come back quickly like normal,” said Simba’s owner, Vanessa Turner.After searching, Turner spotted Simba — but just the 11-year-old dog’s head and two front paws.Simba was struggling to stay above water after falling through an icy pond.”I panicked,” Turner said.That’s when she called the Kansas City Fire Department. Turner said firefighters got there fast, and then called in a special water rescue crew with wetsuits and special floats. They worked to quickly pull Simba to safety.”She scared the livin’ bejeesus out of me,” Turner said. Next up for Simba? Inside for a warm bath, then straight to the vet just to make sure everything is OK.
